Goal: Qualify for the Ironman Worldchampionship

"
Hey, I'm Patrik. I'm a 22 year old German living in London studying Engineering and Business at University College London. From a young age on, I ran with my parents and their running club. After pure running got slightly boring, I decided to give triathlon a try. I was immediately sold and after a surprisingly successful first Olympic triathlon (1.5km swim, 40km bike, 10km run), the first thoughts about entering an Ironman competition popped up in my head. Eventually, during a warmup run with a fellow triathlete, he convinced me that now was the time to sign up for an Ironman. Achim, just two years older than me, had competed in Kona, Hawaii, at the Ironman World championships with 22. He said that if you ever dream of competing there, why don’t you go for it now?

His experiences and enthusiasm caught fire with me. I decided to sign up for an Ironman and train the hardest and smartest over the remaining time to maximise my chances of qualifying for the Ironman World Championship in Kona 2019.

During an exchange year in Argentina, multiple stays in Mexico and a pro-bono project with my company for an orphanage in Haiti, I developed a desire to help people in need. This led me to combining the preparation for the Ironman with a fundraising campaign.
